Solar Credits Scheme

Solar Credits Scheme is in place for all small generation units installed as of June 09 2009.

Solar Credits will apply to the first 1.5 kW's of the installed grid connect system. The shceme uses a multiplier on the current RECs rate. Currently the multiplier is at 5. Generation from capacity above 1.5 kW will still be eligible for the standard 1 for 1 rate of RECs creation. The scheme is not limited to only solar power.

Solar Credits will apply to the first 20 kW's of installed off grid systems. The shceme uses a multiplier on the current RECs rate. Currently the multiplier is at 5. Generation from capacity above 20 kW will still be eligible for the standard 1 for 1 rate of RECs creation. The scheme is not limited to only solar power.

An off grid system must meet the following eligibility requirements:

- cost of $30,000 or more to connect to the mains grid

- distance of 1km or more to the mains grid
